With taxpayers and federal agencies desiring more transparency on how federal award funds are being spent, grant recipients that are required to undergo a single audit will face a considerable amount of scrutiny as auditors evaluate whether funds were spent properly, and if internal controls are present to prevent fraud, waste and abuse. In addition, OMB has issued the 2024 revised uniform guidance for awards issued on or after Oct. 1 (unless federal agencies elect to implement the revisions as early as June 21), which include changes to the audit requirements in subpart F. The changing landscape of grant compliance and audit oversight means that taking action to prevent audit findings and risks to your federal funding is now more important than ever before.

Recipients of federal awards preparing for annual audits must be especially effective in complying with all requirements. But what does “effective” entail? Let an experienced grant auditor clarify steps that can make the biggest difference during preparation, the audit itself and when the report is issued. This can be especially helpful when you are continuing to operate in a hybrid work/remote environment.

This workshop will explore the “dos and don’ts” that can improve the way you prepare for you next single audit, financial audit or compliance audit, as well as how to best collaborate with auditors to ease the process. Plus, we’ll provide special emphasis on the procedures to be performed in relation to audits pertaining to COVID-19 relief program funds .

Fix “red flags” before auditors arrive. In mapping out how annual audits are developed, this workshop will provide value to all grant recipients by breakind down how to make your preparation more targeted and your audit more successful.
